Best anime oversized t-shirts in India: how to pick one you'll actually wear

Here's how it goes for a lot of people buying their first anime tee in India. The first one comes from a random marketplace listing, the print looks faded in person, and it goes to the back of the cupboard. The second one is the one they actually wanted.

This post is about skipping the first one. We sell anime oversized tees, so we're obviously biased, but most of this applies to any store you buy from.

Start with the character, not the anime

Pick the character you'd defend in an argument at 2 am. That sounds silly, but it decides whether you wear the tee or not.

A One Piece tee is a safe choice. A Zoro tee says you've got opinions about who the strongest Straw Hat is. People notice the difference, and so will you when you're choosing what to wear on a Saturday.

Some quick ways to think about it:

Front print or back print

This one gets missed a lot. A big back print looks great in photos and in a crowd, since most people see you from behind in a queue or on a bike. A front print is what you see in the mirror and what shows up in selfies.

On our tees, Gojo, Luffy and Zoro are big back prints with a small chest print on the front. Itachi and Eren have art on both sides. Bakugo, Inosuke, Isagi and Lelouch are front prints. Look at every photo on a product page before you buy, from any store. If a listing only shows the design floating on a white background and never on a tee, ask them where it goes.

Tee colour matters more than you'd think

A dark, detailed poster print can vanish on a black tee from three feet away. A bright print on an off-white or lavender tee shows up from the other end of a college corridor.

On our store the Luffy Gear 5 tee is shown on off-white, Gojo on lavender, Zoro on bottle green and Eren on olive green. Each one comes in two or three other colours too, but those pairings were picked so the art stays readable. When a store offers one design in eight colours, look at the photos, because the print was usually designed for one of them.

What's a fair price for an anime oversized tee in India

You'll see anime tees from ₹299 to ₹2,500. The cheap end usually cuts corners somewhere: thin fabric, a print that cracks after a few washes, or art that was lifted from a wallpaper site at low resolution.

Our anime oversized tees are 240 GSM cotton and cost ₹899 during the launch offer, 2 for ₹1,599 or 3 for ₹2,349. Shipping is free anywhere in India, so there's no surprise at checkout. When you compare stores, compare the price at checkout, after shipping and COD fees, and not the number on the listing.

If fabric weight is the thing you care about, we wrote a separate post on what GSM an oversized tee should be. How the print is made matters too, and that's in DTG vs screen print.

Getting the size right

Oversized tees are meant to drop at the shoulder and sit loose. If you're between sizes, read how an oversized tee should fit before you order. It'll take you two minutes. Every product page also has its own size chart under the photos.

The quickest check is to lay your favourite loose tee flat and measure it across the chest, armpit to armpit. Then compare that number with the size chart. It works better than going by the S, M or L printed on the label, because every brand's M is different.

Things that should make you close the tab

  • The only photos are of a design on a white background, never on a real tee.
  • There's no size chart anywhere on the page.
  • The store only takes full cash on delivery and has no return or replacement policy written down.
  • The art is blurry when you zoom in. It'll look worse printed.

How ordering works on ZOJO

Every tee is printed on demand in India once you order, so it's made for you and doesn't sit in stock for a year. Shipping is free on every order. You can pay the full amount online, or pay 20% now and the rest to the courier when it's delivered. We don't do cash on delivery with nothing paid upfront.

Wrong size? Swap it for free within 7 days of delivery. Changed your mind? Return it within those 7 days for a full refund, pickup included. You start either one from your Orders page. The full rules are on the exchange and return policy page.

Our picks, if you only buy one

For a first anime tee, get Gojo or Luffy Gear 5. Almost everyone recognises them, and both prints are bright enough to read from across the road.

For a second one, go with whoever you'd actually argue about. That's usually Itachi or Zoro.

Once you've got one, our post on styling an oversized anime tee has a few outfits that work for college and weekends. You can see the full range in the anime collection.
