Front print, back print or both?

This decides how loud the tee is, more than the colours do.

Front print only. Most of our trippy tees put one big print on the chest, about 10 inches wide. Time Is Soft is an hourglass melting into a puddle with a planet in the top bulb. Night Owl is an owl with a third eye and a planet in each pupil. Stay Weird is a three-eyed alien sitting under a purple mushroom. People see it from across the room, and that's the point.

Quiet front, loud back. Psychedelic Trippy looks like a plain tee from the front, with only a small round mushroom badge on the left chest. The artwork is on the back: a tall neon panel of a lone figure under a sky of swirls, with one giant eye watching. If you don't like a big graphic on your chest, start here.

Both sides. Mushroom Trippy Art has a giant spotted mushroom on the front and an eye-in-hand print on the back. The Kalyug t-shirt keeps the front simple, one word in Devanagari, and goes big on the back with a cosmic panel of planets and falling figures. It sits in our spiritual line, but if you like trippy art it belongs on this list.

Words or no words?

Some prints are pure art. Psychedelic Art has no slogan at all, and neither does Trippy Monkey, a chimp in pink sunglasses on a graffiti wall. Others carry a line, like THAT WASN'T A MICRODOSE or NO RUSH. A slogan tee starts conversations. A pure art tee is easier to wear to more places, including the ones where your relatives are.

Which fit to pick

We make trippy tees in three fits, and the fabric changes with the fit.

• Regular fit, Rs 699. 180 GSM, closer to the body. Most are 100% cotton. This is the light one for hot afternoons, or for wearing under an open shirt.
• Oversized, Rs 899. 240 GSM, 100% cotton, dropped shoulders and extra length. It hangs loose over jeans or cargos, which is the streetwear look most people mean when they say oversized.

Which colour makes a trippy print pop?

Black, most of the time. Neon purples, pinks and greens look deeper on a dark tee. Our own notes for Psychedelic Art and Stay Weird both point you to black.

There are exceptions. Trippy Monkey is big and bright and looks best on white. Next Stop Saturn, a painted bus rolling past Saturn, comes in off white if you want it softer. Look at the photo of the exact colour on the product page before you buy.

Where do you wear one?

A trippy tee is a festival and gig tee first. For a crowded night, a 240 GSM cotton oversized tee gives you room to move and breathes better than terry. For a December gig in Pune or a cold night in the hills, terry is warmer.

It also works on a normal day with plain jeans and white sneakers. Keep the rest of the outfit quiet and let the print do the talking.
