What to gift your brother on Diwali: pick by what he's into

Gift your brother something he'll use every week that also shows you know him. For most brothers a t-shirt with his thing on it does both, whether his thing is the gym, Mahadev, techno or anime.

Start with what he does every week

Forget what's trending. Think about where his time goes, because that's the tee he'll wear till it fades.

The gym brother. He talks about protein and skips nothing except leg day. Get him Certified Beast, which is laid out like a nutrition label and comes on black or white. Monkey Never Cramps is the other easy one.

Both are regular fit, 100% cotton at 180 GSM, Rs 699. The rest are in Fitness Freaks. Careful with Everything Hurts: it comes sleeveless as well as with sleeves, so check which fit is selected before you pay.

The Mahadev bhakt. For the brother who starts his Monday with a temple visit, look at Har Har Mahadev. It comes in orange, white or black. The regular tee is Rs 699 and runs from XS to 3XL, and the same design is sold as an oversized tee at Rs 899 and a terry tee at Rs 999.

Om Namah Shivaya on black is the quieter choice. All of them are under Lord Shiva t-shirts.

The techno and festival brother. His playlists have no lyrics and his weekends end at sunrise. All You Need is Techno is the obvious pick: oversized, 240 GSM cotton, Rs 899, in black or navy blue. For louder art, go through the trippy tees.

• Regular, Rs 699. 100% cotton, 180 GSM. Sits like a normal tee. Safe for a brother who dresses plain.
• Oversized, Rs 899. 100% cotton, 240 GSM, dropped shoulders. For the one who lives in baggy clothes.
• Terry oversized, Rs 999. 260 GSM, 90% cotton and 10% polyester. Thicker, with a textured feel, and good for November evenings.

Getting his size without asking

Asking "what's your size?" in October gives the game away. Do this.

1. Take a tee he wears often from the cupboard, or ask Mummy to.
2. Lay it flat and measure straight across the chest, armpit to armpit.
3. Double that number and match it to the size chart, which is the last photo on every product page.

Can't get near his cupboard? Go with the size he buys in regular tees, and don't size up for an oversized one. It's already cut big.

The dates that matter

We print each tee after you order it. That adds a day or 2 before it ships, so plan for it.

• Printed and shipped within 24-48 working hours of payment.
• Most of India: 5-8 working days after that.
• Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast: up to 10 working days.

Our last order date for Diwali is 1 November. Don't wait for it. Order in October if you can, because 5-8 working days is only the usual range and couriers get busy in the festive weeks. The details are on the shipping page.

Sending it straight to him

If he lives in another city, you can ship to his address. Put his name and address at checkout. The courier calls the phone number you give there, so use one that will be answered.

One thing to get right. We let you pay 20% online and the rest to the courier on delivery, but for a gift that means your brother pays for his own present at the door. Pay the full amount online. Checkout takes 5% off when you do.

Buying for 2 brothers

Two regular tees come to Rs 1,199 and 3 come to Rs 1,749. For oversized it's 2 for Rs 1,599, and for terry it's 2 for Rs 1,799. You can mix designs, and the bag works out the price.

If the size is wrong

It's fixable. Within 7 days of delivery he can swap the size for free, or return the tee for a full refund. It has to be unworn and unwashed, with the tag still on, so tell him to try it before the first wash.

Is a t-shirt a good Diwali gift for a brother?

It is when it's about him. A tee with his gym joke or his favourite character feels personal, and he'll wear it long after the sweets are gone.

What can I gift my brother on Diwali under Rs 1,000?

When should I order for it to arrive before Diwali?

By 1 November at the latest for most of India, and in October if you can. If he's in Jammu and Kashmir or the Northeast, order a few days earlier, since delivery there can take up to 10 working days.

Can I send the gift directly to my brother's address?

Yes. Enter his address at checkout and pay in full online, so nothing is collected from him at the door.

What if I don't know his size?

Measure a tee he already wears and match it to the size chart. If it still doesn't fit, the size swap is free within 7 days of delivery.
